NSS(National Service Scheme)

About NSS:-

The National Service Scheme(NSS) was established in 1969 to commemorate the birth Centenary of the father of nation .It is aimed at developing the personality and character of young students by engaging them in various community development activities. The Scheme is managed by the Ministry of youth affairs, sports, Government of India and is implemented through state level NSS cells in Universities and Colleges.

 

Objectives:-

  • To promote the spirit of community service among young people and develop their sense of social responsibility.
  • To provide platform for students to interact with communities, learn about their problems and contribute to their Solutions.
  • To foster national integration, Unity and harmony by bringing together students from different regions, cultures  and backgrounds.
  • To engage youth in constructive activities and divert them during their leisure time from negative influences.

Enrollment in NSS:

Enrollment is open to all students Enrolled  in Universities ,Colleges and higher secondary schools in India. To enroll as NSS Volunteer, students Contact the NSS Program officer of school / college / University. Enrollment in NSS is free. NSS Volunteers are required to serve a  minimum of 240 hours of Community service Over two years. The Volunteers are issued with a certificate after successful completion of the required hours of service.
